On Wednesday, December 2, 2020, from 2-3 pm ET, CPO’s Coastal and Ocean Climate Applications Program (COCA) and Sectoral Applications Research Program (SARP), in conjunction with NOAA’s Office for Coastal Management, hosted a webinar for their “Managing of Water Resources Along the Coast” community of practice. The closed-captioned recording is now available.
Titled, “Investing in Adaptation: Design through Implementation,” it was the third in a webinar series designed to explore science and research topics relevant to the community of practice. The webinar focused on climate adaptation investments, strategies for building more resilient communities, and the challenges and cost of incorporating climate considerations into local planning efforts.
The speakers included:
- Ben Cohen, Director at Quantified Ventures, an impact investment intermediary firm that specializes in structuring outcomes-based financing, notably Social and Environmental Impact Bonds;
- Dr. Yu Zhang, Associate Professor, Civil Engineering, University of Texas Arlington; and
- Dr. Philip Orton, Research Associate Professor of Ocean Engineering, Stevens Institute of Technology.
