Andrea Miralles-Barboza is an Program Specialist in the Adaptation Sciences (AdSci) Program, where she supports AdSci’s international efforts, including various projects related to island resilience and a growing partnership with the U.S. Department of State. Prior to this role, Andrea was a Sea Grant Fellow in NOAAs Climate Program Office. Andrea received both her B.S. in Environmental Science and Policy with a concentration in Anthropology, as well as her M.S. in Marine Estuarine Environmental Sciences, at the University of Maryland. She has research experience on multi-stakeholder perceptions of climate adaptation, the role of non-governmental organizations in climate adaptation, and the human dimensions of Nature-Based Solutions. She is a Venezuelan-American who has lived in Massachusetts, Venezuela, Florida and Maryland; all places which shaped her interest in better understanding and supporting the adaptation and resilience of communities with unique cultural contexts, who are increasingly impacted by climate change.
