Lisa Vaughan is the Senior Program Manager for Adaptation Sciences, and Director of International Programs in the NOAA/CPO Climate and Societal Interactions Division, where she collaborates with a dynamic team to design, implement and oversee a coordinated suite of multidisciplinary research, engagement and capacity building programs in support of climate adaptation and resilience. In support of this work, Lisa builds and sustains partnerships across the public and private sectors in the U.S. and abroad to advance the integration of interdisciplinary climate science – including the social sciences – and services in planning and preparedness efforts. Lisa currently co-chairs the International Activities Interagency Working Group of the U.S. Global Change Research Program, and the interagency Climate Information Services Working Group to support the President’s Emergency Plan for Adaptation and Resilience (PREPARE). She has contributed to numerous climate assessments, serving as a co-author of the Fourth National Climate Assessment’s international chapter and the Lead Agency Coordinator for the U.S. Climate Change Science Program Synthesis and Assessment Product 5.2 focused on Best Practice Approaches for Characterizing, Communicating and Incorporating Scientific Uncertainty in Decision Making. Lisa has an M.S. in Environmental Sciences and Policy from Johns Hopkins University and a B.A. in International Affairs and Political Science. She is a graduate of NOAA’s Leadership Competency Development Program (LCDP), and the recipient of several NOAA Medals and Administrator Awards spanning her time at NOAA.
