Members of the Climate Program Office and investigators from the Environmental Research Laboratories participated in the 4th North American Carbon Program (NACP) All-Investigators Meeting (AIM) in Albuquerque NM, Feb. 4-7. The theme of the meeting was “The Next Decade of Carbon Cycle Research: From Understanding to Application.” The NACP is sponsored by several Federal Agencies including NOAA, NASA, DOE, DOA, USGS, and NSF, all of whom sponsored and contributed to support of the meeting.
The meeting was attended by over 400 carbon cycle scientists from the US, Canada, and Mexico. Sessions included discussion of the current and future carbon budget for North America, approaches for communicating the science of climate change, and science information needs for decision makers.
Ko Barrett, Deputy Director of CPO, made a presentation entitled “United Nations Framework Convention on Climate: An Overview” in the Session on International Climate Policy and Negotiation Change and also participated in the Panel Discussion following. Kenneth Mooney of CPO participated in a Panel Discussion entitled “U.S. Inter-agency Science Priorities & Vision.”
