NOAA’s Climate Program Office Announces FY18 Federal Funding Opportunities

CPO’s programs are seeking applications for 7 individual competitions in FY 2018 for an estimated $10 million available and approximately 100 new awards pending budget appropriations. It is anticipated that most awards will be at a funding level between $50,000 and $300,000 per year, with some exceptions for larger awards. Global Sea Level Rise in the 20th Century was faster than the past 27 centuries, says a joint report

The 20th century saw the fastest rise in global sea level (GSL) in 27 centuries, according to a new report supported by NOAA. Partners from Rutgers’ University, Tufts’ University, NOAA, and other researchers foreign and domestic utilized new statistical modeling techniques that permitted observation of GSL rise and projections for GSL in the 21st century. Previous statistical modeling could only focus at the regional and local levels.

CPO highlights milestones and achievements in 2015 Annual Report

NOAA’s Climate Program Office released its FY15 Annual Report on March 11, 2016. The report gives an overview of CPO’s achievements  in FY15 and highlights the great work done by the Office’s Divisions and Programs to advance scientific understanding of climate and improve society’s ability to plan and respond to a changing climate.

Sustainable management and resilience of U.S. fisheries in a changing climate: a collaboration between OAR and NMFS

In partnership with the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) Office of Science and Technology, CPO’s Coastal and Ocean Climate Applications (COCA) program competitively awarded seven grants projects in FY 2015 focused on increasing the understanding of climate-related impacts on fish stocks and fisheries.  The roughly $5 million in grants cover a two- to three-year time period.

Supporting Resilient Coastal Communities and Ecosystems in a Changing Climate
