New study explains wintertime ozone pollution in Utah oil and gas fields

Chemicals released into the air by oil and gas exploration, extraction and related activities can spark reactions that lead to high levels of ozone in wintertime, high enough to exceed federal health standards, according to new NOAA-led research, published online Nature. CPO’s AC-4 program supported this research.

The Virtual Workshop on “Bias Corrections in Subseasonal to Interannual Predictions” organized by the Climate Prediction Task Force (CPTF) took place from September 30 – October 2, 2014. The main goals of this Virtual Workshop were to review current practices and challenges in bias correcting sub-seasonal to interannual predictions and to foster new strategies particularly for non-stationary prediction systems.
