NOAA’s Climate Program Office (CPO) is announcing the Federal Funding Opportunity for Fiscal Year 2015. Pending final budget appropriations, CPO expects approximately $15.5 million will be available through the announcement, and anticipates nearly 100 new awards between $50,000 to $200,000 each, with multi-year RISA awards ranging from $600,000 to $700,000 per year.
The highlights for the State of the Climate in 2013 report were created by the Climate.gov team in consultation with the report’s editors and authors at NOAA’s National Climatic Data Center.

A Special Issue of the Journal, Earth Perspectives: Transdisciplinarity Enabled on the role of the International Research Institute for Climate and Society (IRI) in Shaping Climate Services was published on June 14, 2014.
After winning three awards in the 2014 Webby Awards, NOAA Climate.gov was invited to give a five-word acceptance speech at a ceremony in New York City on Monday. David Herring and Frank Niepold of NOAA Climate.gov attended along with National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Administrator Dr. Kathryn Sullivan and Senior Advisor Christine Blackburn. Dr. Sullivan accepted the awards. Her speech: “Earth: Our home. NOAA’s mission.”

A CLEAN manuscript has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Geoscience Education theme issue on climate literacy. In recent years various climate change education efforts have been launched, including federally (NOAA, NASA, NSF, etc.) and privately funded projects, as well as the development and deployment of the Climate and Energy Literacy frameworks, both reviewed and endorsed by the U.S. Global Change Research Program.
NOAA Climate.gov was selected by the International Academy of the Digital Arts & Sciences to receive two Webby Awards in the “Government” and “Green” categories. We also garnered a People’s Voice Award in the “Green” category (placing second overall in the “Government” category), determined by popular vote.

On August 13, NOAA’s Climate Program Office (CPO) announced a federal funding opportunity for the 2014 fiscal year. The full announcement of opportunity is available on the CPO Funding Opportunities page and on the Grants.Gov website. Letters of intent are due by 5 p.m. Eastern Time on Sept. 10, 2013, and the deadline for final applications is Nov. 14, 2013.
