On Wednesday, October 26, NOAA and partners unveiled Implementing the Steps to Resilience: A Practitioner’s Guide, a handbook to guide national climate resilience. The guide was designed to facilitate the incorporation of climate risk and equity into long-term decision making at local and community levely. This resource is at the forefront of NOAA Climate Program Office’s strategy for accelerating the scale and pace of resilience-building in communities around the nation.
Four equity-focused documents, available at no cost in the NOAA Institutional Repository, were created for use in combination with the Practitioner’s Guide:
- Ready-to-Fund Resilience supports practitioners in effectively preparing for and operating within the climate resilience funding and finance system.
- Centering Equity in Climate Resilience Planning and Action: a Practitioner’s Guide synthesizes and suggests equity-centered principles to apply throughout the adaptation process.
- Moving from Faith-based to Tested Adaptation Process and Approach: How Will We Know We’re Adapting? emphasizes the importance of evaluating and measuring adaptation practices.
- Incorporating Nature-based Solutions into Community Climate Adaptation Planning uses the “Steps to Resilience” framework to explore nature-based adaptation.
All five of these resources debuted at this week’s 5th National Adaptation Forum (NAF) in Baltimore, Maryland.
