On January 5-9, 2021 NOAA’s Climate Program Office (CPO) and Office for Coastal Management (OCM) hosted a virtual booth at the National Council for Science and the Environment’s (NCSE) Drawdown “Research to Action: Science and Solutions for a Planet Under Pressure” virtual conference. Personnel from CPO, OCM, and NOAA’s Office of Education, discussed the physical and social realities of climate change and the ways it affects people, ecosystems, markets, and more. Staff also engaged with virtual visitors to share future career and educational opportunities for interested students and the general public.
Highlights from the week-long engagement included virtual demonstrations of NOAA’s Science on a Sphere (SOS) and the Climate Resilience Toolkit’s steps to resilience. Many thanks to NOAA staff including Margaret Allen, Sean Bath, Emily Becker, Mary Culver, Tom Di Liberto, Jen Dopkowski, David Herring, Catlyn McCrary, Carrie McDougal, Sarah Schoedinger, and Caitlin Simpson who participated in the conference and made the virtual booth a success.
