Advancing scientific understanding of climate, improving society’s ability to plan and respond
RISA organized a panel and a poster session at the Global Council for Science and the Environment 2022 Annual Conference which took place virtually from June 21-24th. The sessions explored examples of transformative change that RISA teams have accomplished in their regions, as well as some of the recent innovative approaches RISA has taken to address climate adaptation.
Next week’s conference will address ways to build capacity to climate crisis and other challenges through productive civic engagement at the scale necessary for a genuinely democratic response across our cities and regions, coastal communities and Western landscapes.
The conference supports on-the-ground resilience efforts, contributes to the development of a climate information network for the Carolinas, and provides a venue for practitioners, resource managers, and researchers to share and collaborate.

NOAA’s Climate Program Office co-sponsored this conference, in partnership with the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the International Research Institute for Climate and Society (IRI) and the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
NOAA’s Climate Program Office (CPO) is co-sponsoring an international conference on El Niño 2015, Shared Experiences: 20 Years of Climate Services and Framing the Next Steps in the Research and Development for Climate Resilience.
