MAPP Webinar Series: Understanding Climate Predictability and Advancing Predictions

The NOAA CPO Modeling, Analysis, Prediction, and Projections (MAPP) program will host a webinar on the topic of climate predictability and predictions on Tuesday, March 18. During this webinar, speakers will discuss the National Multi Model Ensemble, other subseasonal to seasonal prediction efforts, and predictability of Asian Summer monsoon precipitation. This work is relevant to ongoing activities of the NOAA Climate Prediction Task Force, which will also be discussed.

MAPP Webinar Series: Long-term Climate Outlooks for North America: Understanding Models to Interpret Projections and Early Plans for CMIP6

The NOAA CPO Modeling, Analysis, Prediction, and Projections (MAPP) program will host a webinar on the topic of CMIP5 results for North American and CMIP6 plans, Tuesday, February 25. This webinar will discuss ongoing work analyzing CMIP5 20th century simulations and 21st century projections for North America. Talks will highlight ongoing activities of the NOAA CMIP5 Task Force, including work being done with the applications/user community and modeling centers. MAPP, ESS support International S2S Conference

CPO’s Modeling, Analysis, Predictions and Projections (MAPP) and Earth Systems Sciences (ESS) programs have both provided support for the International Conference on Subseasonal to Seasonal Prediction (S2S). Understanding uncertainties in future Colorado River streamflow

Research funded by the RISA program was published in the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society. The publication – Understanding Uncertainties in Future Colorado River Streamflow – is a synthesis of studies on Colorado River streamflow projections that examines methodological and model differences and their implications for water management.

Scientists awarded grants to study Santa Barbara coastal ecosystem vulnerability

Researchers from California’s leading climatological and ecological programs received two grants totaling more than $278,000 from CPO’s Coastal and Ocean Climate Applications (COCA) program and NOAA Sea Grant to conduct a coastal ecosystem vulnerability assessment in the Santa Barbara area, California Sea Grant announced Tuesday, Feb. 4.
